Mr. Spooner - Social Studies
Hello! I am Michael Spooner and I'm excited to be teaching 7th grade Social Studies at Bryan Middle School! The 2020-21 school year will be my 14th year in middle school education. I was born and raised in a small town in Southwest Iowa and after graduating high school, I attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. After graduating, I moved to Casa Grande, Arizona where I taught 7th grade for seven years. I received my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Northern Arizona before serving as the Dean of Students for four years. In May of 2018, my daughter was born and my wife, daughter, and I moved back to Omaha to be closer to both of our families.
When I'm not in school, I enjoy watching sports, especially my beloved Chicago Bears and Oklahoma Sooners. I enjoy spending time with my daughter, my wife, and my two dogs, Deuce and Penny. We enjoy going on little weekend adventures, whether it be to apple orchards, swimming pools, or just going for a walk in a park.
Again, I'm really excited to be a part of the BMS staff and am looking forward to meeting all of our students and families soon!
