  1. Legends of Learning-Magnetic Getaway.  Log on to Legends of Learning as a student.  Your log in is the same way you would log into a computer at school.  Select "Play a Playlist" and use the teacher code: SwainSci to get to a game called "Magnetic Getaway." 

About Me

Hello, my name is Sarah Swain, and I am excited to teach 8C Science.  This is my first year at Bryan Middle.  Previously, I taught at Nathan Hale for 5 years.  I have a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Florida, a Master of Arts in Museum Studies from the George Washington University, and a Master of Arts in Teaching from the College of Saint Mary.  I love to teach because I love to see students learn and grow throughout the school year.


When I am not teaching, I enjoy playing board games with my family, reading books and painting my nails.  Some of my favorite books include: The Hate U Give, Six of Crows, and the Ranger’s Apprentice Series. 


Course Description

Science 8 engages students in the three dimensions (science practices, disciplinary core ideas, and crosscutting concepts) of learning as identified by the Nebraska College and Career Ready Standards for Science.  The topics include forces and interactions, waves and electromagnetic radiation, energy, heredity: inheritance and variation of traits, biological evolution, space systems, and history of Earth. This course provides the foundations for other science coursework.

3. Be Consistently Working and Participating With A Positive Attitude.

4. Complete All Your Work ON TIME.

5. Use Positive Words and Body Language When Communicating.
